To my friends, supporters, and loyal volunteers –

The words “Thank You” do not begin to express my overwhelming gratitude for the sacrifices and dedication you have shown to me and my campaign for City Council President. I am so proud to be a part of history, as Baltimore now holds the esteemed distinction of the only major city in America whose top four elected leaders are African American women.

I have received the congratulations of so many of you. Now let me pass the congratulations on to you, the dedicated supporters and volunteers of this campaign, whose tireless hours on the streets, on the phones, and at the polls made this victory possible.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to each one of you.

Together, we will realize a Baltimore where the jobs are more plentiful than the drugs; where the after-school programs can out-recruit the gangs; and where the promise to the next generation continues to be brighter than the one that came before.

We will realize a Baltimore where the quality of education does not depend on your zip code, and the quality of life does not depend on your income.

My father taught me that with great power comes great responsibility. I have been granted a powerful role in City leadership by the people of Baltimore, and it is my intention to honor the responsibility that the voters have entrusted in me. Our shared responsibility remains to the future of our City.

To the children of our neighborhoods, to the families who make this City great, and to the neighborhood leaders who expect real and responsive government, we hear you. I am deeply humbled by the support I’ve received from all of you throughout this campaign. With Baltimore’s best days ahead of us, it is because of you that we will lead our City to a brighter future.

With deep respect and love,
